SOCM
The Sunsmart Southern Ocean Classic Mile is a popular fixture on the club calendar.
Fondly known as SOCM, this 1.6km swim is proudly hosted by the Denmark Surf Life Saving Club in the beautiful waters of Ocean Beach, Denmark for the past 20 years!
With conditions changing every year, it can be either a super-challenging slog through choppy swell or a beautifully blue and smooth experience. Only once in the race’s history have we had to call it off due to the conditions.

After a two-year hiatus while the Denmark Surf Life Saving Club and Ocean Beach precinct had a major upgrade, the Southern Ocean Classic Mile will be back for 2026.
